Sensex shoots up 623 pts as PM Modi retains power

Equity indices finished in green on Friday, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP retained power with an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha elections. The benchmark BSE sensex soared 623.33 points or 1.61 per cent to close at a record high of 39,434.72, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 187.05 points or 1.60 per cent to end at a fresh lifetime high of 11,844.10.
